"No Escape Zone" reveals the experiences of Fleet Air Arm pilot Nick Richardson after being shot down behind Serb lines during a mission over Gorazde. Lined up to take out two Serb tanks on a ridge above the town, Richardson's sea Harrier was hit by a surface-to-air missile. He ejected and parachuted to ground safely, only to be picked up by a group of Muslim militia - whose side they were on, he did not know. Through various safe-houses he eventually ended up with a group of UN observers holed up in Gorazde, and they decided to make a break for it. Contacting SAS HQ in Sarajevo, they arranged for a chopper to pick them up eight miles out of town. After a hazardous trek through Serb territory in the middle of the night the helicopter arrived, and Richardson was flown out to rejoin his unit. Review: A Thrilling Read: A reader from Manchester, UK, 5 September, 2000"I have just finished reading this exciting, hard to put down book. As I enjoy reading fact based books whatever their topic, I decided 'No Escape Zone' was a book I could learn from as well as be entertained. The book turned out to be not just a another war story, but also an insight into the feelings of a fighter pilot when dealing with his high adrenalin job and also his personal life, proving these intelligent, brave men are human after all. It some how allows you to become a fighter pilot in the seat of a fast jet figher aircraft. It describes how the author was feeling when trapped amongst the enemy with no easy way home, the many different set backs he and the SAS team he hooked up with, came across. I won't go on about the actual story too much so as not to spoil it for other readers. As a 30 year old woman I can fully recommend this book for anyone of any age, I'm sure you will find it as exciting, educating and thrilling as I did. Enjoy!"
